Urban Pulse Mapping, Inc. (“Urban Pulse,” “we,” “us”)

1. Data We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and city of residence. City accounts additionally include organizational information and staff contact details.

Tree Observation Data: When you submit a tree scan, we collect photographs of the tree (up to 3 images) and GPS coordinates at the moment of submission. We do not continuously track your location.

Device Information: We collect basic device metadata including device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and quality assurance purposes.

Payment Information: For mapper payouts, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card or bank account numbers on our servers.

2. GPS Data and Location Privacy

Urban Pulse only collects GPS coordinates at the point of tree scan submission. We do not enable continuous location tracking, background location services, or route tracking.

GPS data is associated with tree records, not user profiles. Your movement patterns cannot be reconstructed from tree submission data.

GPS accuracy metadata is used solely for data quality filtering and is not shared with third parties.

3. AI Processing

Tree photographs are processed by our AI pipeline for species identification and health screening. Images may be sent to third-party AI services (including Anthropic and Pl@ntNet) for analysis.

These services process images for classification purposes only and do not retain images after processing is complete.

4. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@urbanpulsemapping.com.

5. FOIA and Public Records

Tree inventory data purchased by municipalities with public funds may become public records subject to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or state open records requests.

Mapper personal information (names, emails, payment details) is never included in municipal data exports and is not subject to FOIA disclosure.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained for the duration of your account plus 30 days after deletion request. Tree observation data (photographs and coordinates) may be retained in anonymized form as part of the municipal tree inventory even after account deletion.

Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by tax regulations.
